Guest speaker to the Essex-Tappahannock Chamber lunch on April 13th, 2011 was Paul D. Koonce, President and Chief Operating Officer of Dominion Virginia Power.

Mr. Konce described the future build program for Dominion Virginia Power which includes four new generating stations and infrastructure to support the ever increasing power needs of Virginia, especially in the Northern Virginia area.

Dominion is one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy, with a portfolio of approximately 27,600 megawatts of generation. Delegate Albert Pollard, Essex Board Chairman Edwin E. "Bud" Smith, Jr., Deputy County Administrator Linda E. Lumpkin, and Senator Ryan T. McDougle enjoyed a moment during the 2009 Legislative Reception held on January 9 at Lowery's Seafood Restaurant in Tappahannock. About 75 officials from the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck Counties, and Caroline County, discussed challenges of mutual interest with their legislators before the 2009 General Assembly Session convenes in Richmond on January 14, 2009. Senator McDougle will update the Tappahannock-Essex Chamber of Commerce in May.
