COMMUNITY CHORUS

Community Chorus - Emerson Hughes leader The Community Chorus is a non-profit vocal music organization dedicated to providing the individual and community with opportunities in musical education and performance that would otherwise be unavailable in rural Essex and the Northern Neck.

Members are volunteers that come from a very wide geographical area, represent numerous professions, and span the generations. The Chorus endeavors to sample the wide range of musical styles, from Bach to Broadway, Renaissance to contemporary, sacred and secular. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at Essex High School culminating in two performances each year, one during the Christmas season and the other in the spring. The chorus receives its financial support from member dues and generous contributions from the community.

The Community Chorus invites any and all who are interested in voice training and choral singing to join with us in music. The chorus is directed by Emerson Hughes and accompanied by Kathleen Hughes.
