Building Specifications
General: Refer to the attached drawing. The building was build in 5 stages, between 1960 and 1968. Buildings 2 and 3 were two different building projects but resulted in one building. There are actually 4 buildings separated by 12” block firewalls.
Total Building area: 156,485 sq. ft.

Columns: Single row in the center of each building on 20 ft. centers.
Ceiling height:14’-6” to the bottom chord of the truss.
Trusses: The trusses are 5’-10” deep in the center of the building and 4’-10” deep at the walls giving a 12” pitch on the roof.
Floor: 6” concrete slab with 6x6 #10 reinforcing wire.
Roofs: Build up roof with good insulation values.
Docks: 4 docks are located at the front of the building and one on the south wall. A dock for maintenance is located at the rear of the building.
Electrical: One 2500 KVA transformer (property of Dominion Virginia Power) supplies the building via a cable tray on the front of the building. There are 4 sets of Main disconnects, one in each building. Plug in buss duct along each side wall is used to supply equipment. Under-floor wire-ways are used to keep the overhead clear for the bridge cranes. Voltage is 480/277V 3 phase.
Boilers: No. 1 Boiler, 50 horsepower, 15 psi.
No. 2 Boiler, 125 horsepower, 150 psi, we operate at 45-55 psi.
Air Conditioning: Building is completely air conditioned for temperature and humidity control.
Sprinkler system: The building is completely sprinkled. There are 4 main risers, one in each building. The system is fed from a 200,000 gallon elevated water tank. The top 50,000 gallons is used as well for domestic service. The tank is filled with a 300 GPM pump and is controlled with an ultrasonic level control.
Bridge cranes: Two 2 ton bridge cranes are located in each building.
