The Essex County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office has an opening for the full-time position of Deputy Clerk I. The Deputy Clerk will be responsible for calculating the correct fees, recording, and indexing a variety of legal documents relating to the ownership of real estate in Essex County. Other duties will include issuing marriage licenses, opening and maintaining civil files, administering oaths, collecting court fines and costs, and assisting the public. Various computer programs will be used to complete these tasks on a daily basis.

The Deputy Clerk MUST be able to work under pressure, with frequent interruptions, and often without direct supervision. A strong desire to work with and serve the public is essential. Must be detailed oriented.  

Requirements: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Some experience relative to the duties to be performed.

Salary: Approximately $35,000 with state retirement and other benefits.
