Position Title:
     Firefighter EMT

Salary Range: Starting at $ 36,000 with no training with an increase to $ 45,000 once certified and released as a Firefighter/EMT

Job Description:
Essex County Virginia is seeking full time highly motivated individuals responsible for providing EMS care and firefighter support to the citizens of Essex County operating on a 24-hour shift. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package. The retirement benefit for providers allows full retirement at age 50 and 25 years of service. The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Essex County is located in Virginia’s Middle Peninsula and is full of pastoral charm. It is an idyllic location to settle down in a relaxing rural environment, but with easy access to the vibrant cities of Richmond, Williamsburg, and Fredericksburg all of which are located within a scenic one-hour drive. Essex County, located adjacent to the Rappahannock River, boasts a plethora of activities centered on the water. The county is a rural community with a population of 10,599 and covers 257 square miles. The county will provide a stipend to support certain relocation costs which will be discussed at the time of hiring.

The current organization staffs three shifts supporting two units a day. Additional responsibilities will include fire suppression support and other public safety duties.  The county will offer EMT-B, Virginia certification training, specialized classes and firefighting training at time of hiring. Each provider works as a team and reports to the on-duty Lieutenant.
